SHORT HISTORY

Nexus Youth Initiative Uganda started as a group of vibrant youths who had the vision to impact the community through promoting talented youths musically in 2019. Our initial mission was to empower the youth using music, drama and supporting talented young musicians using an on line television and events promotion company called Nexus Inc. The negative effects of Covid 19 especially on the female adolescent youth girls and boys motivated our team to form a community based organization called Nexus Youth Initiative; that would address the plight of the girl child through advocating for their Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and protection against all forms of violence, abuse and exploitation like early forced marriages, abortion and denial of right to education. .

Interventions
That came through

. Our online televised approach of reaching out to the youth impacted many youths since they could access it using our social media platforms like Facebook, What’s App, YouTube, twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. We also engaged youths’ productively through our online TV - edutainment approach that disseminates educating and entertaining messages mainly targeting the youth through the social plat forms. This was purposed to address prevalent teenage pregnancies caused by forced marriages by the parents and relatives and inaccessible SRH services and supplies during the COVID 19 pandemic era, plus other emerging protection issues of GBV, child abuses and domestic violence. We are dedicated to make tremendous contribution to curbing of forced early marriages caused by bad cultural practices and advance poverty in household through advocacy and public policy influencing using all rights holders’ inclusiveness and youth-led engagements at all stages from projects conceptualization, planning, implementations and review processes. We want to set precedent by being the most vibrant, innovative and sustainable solutions oriented and accountable youth – led CBO in Adjumani district that other youth groups that have passion to serve humanity emulate from. We want to change the trend of youth being perceived as idlers and incapable of making informed objective decisions, hence our commitment to empower other youth using our on- line platforms and community sensitizations as well youth skills development programs. Accordingly, our journey into development and humanitarian work was ignited when we won youth challenge organized by OUTBOX funded by UNFPA worth 18 Million for impacting communities in Adjumani on SRH/R and GBV using the Online TV innovation called NEXUS TV UGANDA as well as community out reaches in the areas where internet is not accessible and among the communities that cannot afford smart phones to access information and supplies on SRH/R and GBV protection information.

    Act as Whistle blowers to expose occupational/institutional fraud, corruption, protection breaches in the community and various stake holders and duty bearers..
